As long as the president continues to poll well, he and his advisors probably feel they'd be fools to change course.

I want our Democratic president to be well liked and appreciated. It gives him clout and strengthens his position here and around the world. But if the price of that is staying the course, I think it's problematic. He'll continue walking the moderation tightrope and continue empowering Blue Dogs, and the base of impassioned voters -- the ones who did not vote or GOTV on Tuesday -- will remain frustrated and feeling marginalized, and that will lead to doom in November.

It's a two-edge sword, this 56%. Anybody have a different take?

People want change but the Dems have not totally turned against him. He has time, but only some.
