The center of attention today on Capitol Hill is Sen.-elect Scott Brown, the Republican who flipped the seat that had been the Democrats' domain for decades. But the GOP isn't giving Brown its biggest showcase -- the party's official response to President Obama's State of the Union address.

Jackie Kucinch and John Stanton of Roll Call report that the honor is going to Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell, another blue-to-red GOP success story.

McDonnell, who was sworn in to office on Jan. 16, will also address the House Republican retreat in Baltimore next week.
