Populism and today's SCOTUS ruling
Today's SCOTUS ruling should be a sobering reminder to anyone who claims they oppose corporate influence in politics and Wall Street greed yet continue to support the RW.

A majority of Obama voters who switched to Brown said that "Democratic policies were doing more to help Wall Street than Main Street."

A full 95 percent said the economy was important or very important when it came to deciding their vote.

In a somewhat paradoxical finding, a plurality of voters who switched to the Republican -- 37 percent -- said that Democrats were not being "hard enough" in challenging Republican policies.

Seriously, what is the disconnect?

2. They want Obama to step up. And in a two party system there is little
way to express disappointment in the President besides voting for the other candidate or staying home. And people are naive and are not political junkies like us. They have no idea the damage done in allowing Rethugs to return to power. The polling data actually suggests Obama has an opening here, but he needs to deliver real reforms to Wall St.

3. The disconnect is only the two party system
If you want to protest the way one party is going, you have to vote against the other one. So for the unfortunates who made the decision to support a shift to the left by voting for a right wing candidate, I say hate the game, not the player. One might argue that by voting for Coakley, the Democratic establishment would continue thinking they can get away with anything.

I'm not happy with the outcome, but that's probably the logic, sadly.

5. Guess that points to the "two party" system being a problem in itself.
Well..no problem. Soon enough we will have only one party..the Corporate Party.

9. It's sad, but it's not
logic. It's flawed thinking.

4. Mass voters dig corporate influence because they just gave the GOP one
more fillibuster vote on future left-leaning Supreme Court nominees, thereby erasing our 60 vote fillibuster-proof majority.

Woo Hoo! Give us more wingnut justices like JOHN ROBERTS!!

7. Yes, I do,
and I've been thinking all day that I'm glad I'm over 60, so won't have to live the majority of my life in this mess. I just feel really badly about my nieces and nephews and their families. Sad, very, very sad.
