HuffPo showing Obama some love today
earlier they had a giant picture and headlines showing him to be really standing up to the banks. Cheerleading for him, almost.

I say good for them. They have been advocating this kind of action, and when he does it they are right behind him. That's the way it should be.

But their eyes aren't closed. Read the articles and it's very clear that it's important that he back up the talk with action.

1. He's got an opening here ...
I just posted elsewhere that the one glimmer of hope I've had today came with thinking about how Obama has a very narrow window of opportunity here to come out guns blazing at the STate of the Union. If he comes out and takes apart everyone - the banks; the Congress and Senate - both sides; even the Supreme Court for this shitty ruling today - he's got a good chance at stirring people up and bringing them back to the fold. He's gotta do something bold or the media will continue to yammer on about how he's powerless and losing the greatest chance we've had in our generation.

I want to see him come out fighting at the SOTU. And I'm going to keep hoping until the last possible minute that he does!

3. But will our dysfunctional Democratic Congress be able to pass these measures?
I am beginning to doubt it.

4. I doubt it most of the time too.
But Obama can hold over their heads that the public will vote them out if they don't pass these measures. Not sure if some corporate Dems care, but we shall see.
