FauxNews Poll: Obama Would Beat GOP, Tea Party Rivals By Landslide In 2012
FOX News Poll: Obama Would Beat GOP, Tea Party Rivals By Landslide In 2012

Posted in Liberaland by Alan • January 21, 2010, 7:49 PMET •

Much is being made about Obama’s troubles these days, but a FOX News poll shows some encouraging news.

Buried inside the new Fox News poll are some trial heats for the 2012 presidential election that look awfully good for President Barack Obama. Three candidates are tested against Obama: Mitt Romney, Sarah Palin and Newt Gingrich. Obama smashes them all. He leads Romney by a 47-35 margin, Palin by a 55-31 margin, and Gingrich by 53-29 margin. Each margin includes a healthy lead among independent voters.

1. Typical Fox, always towing the Obama line....
I cannot believe this, so I'll wait for a poll from a more conservative source to balance things out.

3. That's why I laugh every time right wing radio touts
one of those "if the election were held today 55% say they would not vote for Obama" polls. I always chuckle and say to myself, yeah but against who? Put a who next to him like a Palin, Gingrich or whoever it is they think they got and that all melts away. If it were snow it wouldn't even stick.

5. Even if Obama is re-elected,
we could still lose both houses of Congress and he would be a lame duck for his entire second term.

I think there is actually a lot more voter resentment toward the Democratic Congress than the President himself, and rightly so.

11. Someone the other day said 2010 is not like 1994, it is like 1982
Now I am convinced. Reagan lost a lot of seats in 1992 too but people still really liked him personally. Even against Mittens, Obama polls well. Though a lead can easily be blown as we have seen with Coakley.
Obama needs to continue what he began today with regulating the banks.

13. One huge difference
Republicans liked Reagan and were behind him 100%. Obama has his haters here. Reagan did not from his own party.

14. Obama will get 85-90%+ support from Dems in 2012.
Just like he did in 2008.

Obama does have a few haters *here*...on DU. True. Isn't it weird how it's the one place where you would expect him to not have haters among Democrats - the DEMOCRATIC UNDERGROUND?

12. I think this is a way to get/keep the Faux news base fired up for midterms
and beyond. They want to stir their people up so that they will show up at the polls.

17. Well, yeah. The bloodbath will happen this year, but 2012 is 2 years from now.
People are angry, and while they don't realize that more Repukes will make it worse, they will..and then vote the other way, then back again, and so on.
