I am and idiot. I had been conflating Dorgan and Conrad because I couldn't process the weird fact that we had two Dems from North Dakota.

It's the only reason I can for the reticence of more of them to do the kind of things you suggest. I mean, look at Harry Reid. His reelection chance are moribund so he could do whatever the hell he wants as SML. But not if he wants a nice position in the private sector afterwards.

Dodd may think he has another job here in CT...Hartford IS the insurance capitol of the US.
