WASHINGTON, Jan 25 (Reuters) - President Barack Obama on Monday said he expects Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner and White House economic adviser Larry Summers to stay in their jobs, and called them "terrific advisers."

"You know, we haven't had the conversation because my presumption is that they are staying. There's a lot of 'hue and cry' in Washington because this is what happens," Obama said in an interview with ABC News.

Some liberal supporters of Obama have criticized Geithner and Summers as being too cozy with Wall Street.

And it raised some eyebrows when former Federal Reserve Chairman Paul Volcker was the one standing at the president's side when he announced new bank rules.

10. We all want them canned...but realistically
we're probably stuck with them the entire first term. If Obama gets re-elected, then he'll probably replace them. Policy-wise it's smart to do it now, politically...it may not be the best moment.

13. Well, considering a serious improvement in the REAL economy is needed for his re-election
Then I would say that politically AND policy wise, it's time to dump the three stooges of Wall Street criminal banking.

And replace them with people who actually GET the fact that Gold Mansacks criminals with billion dollar bonuses is NOT an economic recovery.

16. No politician would say, "Yes. I am planning to fire X official"

Has any President ever answered yes to the question of whether he plans to replace someone? It would be insensitive and counterproductive. I believe Geithner is going to be pushed out.
