I can't imagine this place defending McCain if he would have one and done the same thing as Obama has.

The War decisions, the wall street decisions, the private pharma deal, the patriot act renewal, defending wiretapping, etc.

We would be RIPPING McCain daily. And we would also not be happy about the way the money has been spent to boost the economy.

So why do so many here defend Obama for the same decisions.

I know Obama is not McCain but you cannot be happy with Obama doing things you would be pissed at Obama about.

At times us Dems are as biased as any GOP supporter....all logic thrown out the window!

Everything Obama does is defended by enamored supporters as some elaborate political maneuver. Being that all mistakes Obama makes are explained away, he essentially becomes an infallible political leader, whose future actions must also be explained away so that he remains infallible. Once Obama becomes a chess master, people must religiously believe that these political moves fit some grand strategy that the common man cannot understand, and that such a strategy will benevolently serve them. Once someone affixes a belief and operates on faith alone, there is no talking sense to them

1) He said he'd get of out of Iraq, with the target of 16 months. He's on track for 16-19 months. December was the first month since the war started that we had ZERO combat deaths in Iraq.

2) As a candidate, he said he'd ADD at least 20k troops to Afghanistan. He also said we needed to increase our focus there. He's done EXACTLY that.

And one who is upset with him on these points was not paying attention.

And if you want to talk about logic you listed several issues in which many DU folks like myself have complicated views and we are able to distinguish between marching lock step and criticizing him when it is necessary.

Oh by the way....if McCain were in office the first thing he would have done would have been to cut taxes for the top 1-5% and corporations. This bad economy we are seeing would be nothing compared to what it would be if that would have happened. Oh yea and the Iraq war in which we are drawing down would have been escalated.....and Afghanastan would be spiraling out of control.
