So what programs have been hit with the spending freeze?
Seems everyone knows but me.

Heck you got a op on the front page with over 300 recs of outrage over the freeze.

Could someone let me know what programs were frozen.

19. There IS no window.
They're all guessing.

I'm waiting for some actual data before I form an opinion and spout it all over a discussion forum :)

10. The problem isn't about programs
Edited on Tue Jan-26-10 06:49 PM by Kurt_and_Hunter
If folks are worried about specific line items they probably need not worry too much. So you are right about that.

But in broader terms this is the worst thing Obama has done yet, and by a mile.

This stunt is a theatrical concession that the Republican view of the world is correct and the Democratic view is irresponsible.

It closes off the political possibilities of doing things we desperately need.

That is the problem.

As to what will be cut... probably nothing. But very little will be added at a time when much needs to be added.

11. There are some things I would not mind be frozen.. In fact I think it would be GREAT
farm subsidies for corporate farms, that strangle the small individual farmer. I would not have a problem with that at all!

12. Alaskan King Crab has been frozen
So Obama, looking for a SOTU soundbite that will make both sides of the aisle stand up and cheer, in the exercise of great show biz sense, asks Congress for a freeze that congress never in a million years give to him anyway and DU, never failing to disappoint, sees pending doom and an apocalypse instead of realizing that all this is about is political theater to gain a few points in the polls and improve the overall atmosphere for Dems, who will be innoculated against attacks of "wild, uncontrolled spending" by right wingers.

15. Thank GOD, I was starting to feel like the only one not asked to dance!
It will be interesting to see what the proposals are. There is some real pork out there.. thinking of that bridge to nowhere in Alaska.. If the economic team can put freezes on things like that.. I would have no issue with that.. cutting social programs like SS or EHS well that would be different.

But who is going to know till then..

17. The freeze will likey prohibit tax cuts for the rich from being extended.
That really pisses me off. I really wanted those poor put-upon rich people to get the tax cuts they deserve!! I feel so sorry for them.
