Tomorrow night is the night. I have not succumbed to the all-or-nothing media spin that was set by the "with us or against us" political play a few years ago ...but.... Obama has the world stage tomorrow night. This is about seizing the opportunity.
If this is 80% as good as the racism speech he gave in Philadelphia he will take the night.
I think that Obama's administration has re-introduced something that America has not seen since the impeachment nonsense started 12 years ago, namely governing. The right hates governing and the media follows along as usual. He has made tough but safe choices so far. I expect nothing but the same tomorrow night.
Obama and his people have gone full "populist" in their tone and words since Tuesday. Of course he is "called on it" by the fake populists and their message carriers. The speech will be TO the inner DC world and the media even though it shouldn't be.
It doesn't matter what he says. He will be attacked on all sides for he says and what he doesn't say but the people in the middle (who don't watch the minute-by-minute activities) will get the point.
He needs to stress what he has done for the middle class and what he is proposes. This is not DLC stuff-who want to eek out victories with the middle class but have no mandate to make any real change- he needs to got right to the heart, the "heartland" as is the normal form these days. He needs to remind them that he cut their taxes, that is never mentioned. They will love the child tax credit even if they don't get it themselves...or would admit it in the office the next day.
He will never get another chance to change the discourse. I hope he does.
Tomorrow night is telling. Do they still have game? Do they veer off course and attack? I don't think so. BUT it is time to hit the shot. Square your feet, eye on the target, and realize that it is all in the wrist.... and the spin of the ball. Deliver.
oh and gays can fire rifles like I was trained to. Anyone can. They have that training worked rather um fiercely!
