10. He was an outstanding speaker
Doesn't mean we like him. Hitler was better than anyone in the above list by far, and we all hate him. Castro is up there too.

9. Gee, if Bobby Jindal had been a choice, I'll bet those who chose Reagan voters would be stymied.

7. Kennedy comes in second with me too.
Clinton third.

I disliked Reagan so much I can't be objective.

11. I don't think it is Obama.
I picked Clinton.

Obama has a weakness. He never nails it down in easily remembered points. He doesn't grab the bull by the horns. He doesn't say "here's the problem, here's what I want done, and here's how and when I want it done." Everything is too loosey goosey.

He never makes a good closing argument. He writes and orates an essay. It's thoughtful. It's information filled. It is pleasing to the ear and the emotions. But if the average person can't listen to and say "this is what he intends to do and this is how," they won't take much away from it other than a vague feeling.

I've championed LBJ for his ability to say what he was going to do, why, and when. He remains the gold standard for Democratic presidents and their ability to pass legislation since FDR.

The president is a good speaker, but a lousy salesman. A salesman has to close the deal.

13. Obama ... hands down ... and here is the definitive reason why ...
Obama beat Hillary, and all the other, better known Dems in the Primary ... and then beat the very well known McCain to get elected.

For the vast majority of Americans, he went from being an unknown, to being President.

Kennedy was young, but he was better known ... Ronnie had been a national GOP figure for a while, Bill Clinton was better known, Bush #1 just followed Reagan in, and Bush #2 used his last name.

Its no contest.

14. Obama for a number of reasons

His style and intelligence and the fact he doesn't speak down to us the way Reagan did. I know some think Reagan was the great communicator, but to me it seemed like he was a Grandfather sitting down telling a bedtime story and he tended to ramble.

I like it that Pres. Obama speaks to us as one adult to another.

16. Today, it's Obama. But Clinton in his prime could've taken him in a charm debate.
Obama's good, but he's got an introvert streak in him. Clinton was much better at thinking on his feet and giving polished answers. Obama just "umms" and "uhs" too much. Bubba's off his discipline these days, but back when he was still hungry he could eat up a room.

1994 Debates
Watch and say RR was great communicator. No way. Totally inept.
Try getting them shown on TV. No way.

I enjoyed watching him read his message He was experienced and very good.
Great voice.

Match him vs Clinton three speeches at Georgetown in Oct Nov Dec 1991

Amazed me. Spout facts with no notes. They made me a Clinton fan.

Hillary made one of best ministerial speeches I heard in Denver at UMC convention.

It was awesome. UMC has tape.
