Bernero's annoucement to run for Michigan governor an error

LANSING -- The Vote Virg Team accidentally emailed an announcement that Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero is intending to run for Michigan governor.

The email, which was soliciting interns for a gubernatorial campaign, was sent out today by mistake, according to Bernero’s campaign adviser, Jamaine Dickens. Dickens said Bernero has not decided yet whether to run for governor.

The email was sent to students at Michigan State University’s James Madison College, and should have said that the team was seeking interns for the mayor’s exploratory committee, Dickens said. Bernero formed the committee late last year to consider a run for governor.

Dickens did not say who was responsible for the error, calling it a youthful mistake. No one will be fired, Dickens added.
