Is Obama's beatdown of the GOP today part of a greater plan that began with the SOTU?
With his calling out the GOP for filibuster obstructionism in that speech?

Deciding that since Reid et al aren't going to do their job and shame the GOP or change the Senate rules, that the President has to get out there and whip some ass?

It's nice to see a victory and to see our President engaged and on the warpath after the NJ/VA/MA races and the SCOTUS decision. It's nice that he's got a little economic wind at his back too.

I sure hope he's got something good in mind.

1. All Obama did was point out the obvious
Nothing he said was new to any of us. The difference is he did it to their face, on national television. :)

2. You think they'll ever allow TV again?
Something tells me that are kicking themselves over allowing it yesterday.

4. He went into the house of cards and knocked it down...
Boehner et al thought they could corner and beat him simply because they were a hostile 144 against a single individual...but the went into a the fight w/nothing but mud, PO went in with a hose and a lot of soap...cleaned the whole thing right up. He did it deftly as well, he was well prepared, knew this was not going to be a lovefest, and since the GOP hasn't changed it's tactics , he went in strategically and won the day.

Battles are won and lost on tactics, and the availability to be flexible, wars are won by strategy, in this particular scenario, PO not only beat the tactics, but had a sound strategy as well. I noticed the "oh shit" looks on many GOP faces throughout the discussion...almost immediately, it was apparent they didn't have some stooge at the podium, they had an intelligent and powerfully prepared foe on their hands. Once it got started, there was not turning back and the GOP rolled into the meat grinder...with no way out.

I am incredibly proud of our president, he deftly took on their "questions", and turned the whole thing into a show of what intellect and thought can do to those who enter the fry w/o a good plan.

He played them for the fools they are...now, they will do one of two things, become more flexible or dig in further...my money, for the short run, is they will take the latter route....:hi:

5. I hope so but this was exactly how he started last year too. A meeting with the GOP.
but he never was able to get around them blocking every single thing he wanted to do.

Will it be different this time?

I hope so but I don't have a lot of faith that it will.

6. I'm curious to see how
the horribly biased Sunday Morning talk shows will spin this little beat down. They will have to go 100% Republican guests this Sunday.

7. He needs to follow up the rhetoric..
... with some decisive action. The GOP keeps insisting they want to work with the president, that their ideas are not considered, etc - which is a LOAD OF HORSESHIT and they know it.

Obama needs to orchestrate another situation to make them PUT UP OR SHUT UP.

Not with talk but with a legislative initiative that shines a light on how the GOP is really behaving.
