Headset on, Obama does basketball commentary on TV

There was a familiar voice behind the microphone during the Duke-Georgetown basketball game — Barack Obama's.

The president, attending the game as a fan, provided some hoops commentary early in the second half of Saturday's matchup of two top 10 teams at the Verizon Center near the White House.

Obama told the CBS announcers that his job keeps him too busy to watch a full game on TV during the regular season. He said ESPN's SportsCenter keeps him well updated. But when it comes to March Madness and the NCAA tournament, it's a different story. The president says he'll watch all the Final Four games.

Obama told analyst Clark Kellogg he may become a commentator after leaving the White House — in three or seven years.

President Obama made an appearance as a third CBS commentator at the Georgetown-Duke men's college basketball game here at the Verizon Center.

The president looked like he was having fun, joked that he was coming after Clark Kellogg's job and about his appearance at the House Republican Conference on Friday.

After showing the 2008 footage of Obama playing with the eventual National Champion North Carolina Tar Heels, CBS play-by-play man Verne Lundquist asked, "Mr. President, you're a left-hander, do you have any trouble going to your right?"

Acknowledging the double entendre in the question, Obama said (loosely based on quick notes): "I can go to my right now and then. I went to the House Republican caucus the other day. But there’s no doubt I have a stronger left hand."

2. Wonder if this will give Keith Olbermann an excuse to say to him:

"Um. Mr. President, after seeing how you handled that Republican Retreat the other day, I am duly impressed, and I freely acknowledge that of the two of us, you indeed have all the chops to be President of the United States, and I do not--but in light of that, could you please be content with sticking to your own job, and QUIT TRYIN' TO WORK MY SIDE OF THE STREET?" :rofl:

4. They just showed a clip of it on the news

and one of the commentators asked him since he was left-handed if he had trouble going to the
right when he played basketball, and the Pres., said something like, "well, I showed I didn't
have any problem yesterday."
