Obama’s letter to the Alfalfa dinner,
read aloud there by Timothy Geithner: Dear Friends,
I regret that I’m unable to attend this year’s Alfalfa dinner, but as part of the health care compromise, I’m busy tonight babysitting Ben Nelson’s grandkids.
A few days ago, I gave my first State of the Union address, and I’m pleased to say it was a success. This year, even the heckling improved. A whole new branch of government has got into the act.
Obviously, the State of the Union came after a pretty significant election in Massachusetts. It was an election that made clear that voters don’t want left or right. They want centerfold. Which is probably why Chris Dodd is now thinking about running again.
Of course, I’ve had some political setbacks this year.
And it could be worse – at least, they haven’t tried to replace me with Jay Leno. Yet.
But look on the bright side –
at least I’m not Tim Geithner! http://www.politico.com/politico44/wbarchive/whiteboard01302010.html http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cNhnThb8gEw ;)
