Snowe talking to Dems - Politico
http://www.politico.com/livepulse/0110/Snowe_talking_to_Dems.html?showall

Sen. Olympia Snowe (R-Maine) said Friday that she has been in conversation with Democrats and Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus about a way forward on health care reform.

"I have talked with several of my Democratic colleagues, including the chairman of the Finance Committee, just sorting through these issues, and the process, and what will unfold," Snowe told Andrea Mitchell on MSNBC Friday afternoon. "Hopefully, will take measure of what needs to happen now, build some support, those things can happen so that it's not breathtakingly expansive that creates consternation by the American people at a time will can ill-afford intrinsic costs."

But Snowe made it very clear she could not support any form of a bill that came through the reconciliation process—a legislative move she called "wrong and untenable."

Instead, Snowe believes Congress could pass a scaled-back version of insurance reform based on measures that would aid small business, a policy stance she has held since the summer with she voted in favor of the bill that came through the Finance Committee.

1. While I was glad to see her applauding the President's remarks about HCR during the SOTU...
... the names "Snowe" and "Baucus" together in the same sentence give me the heeby jeebies.

Is it time to dig up Trigger?

10. Didn't you get the memo?
EVERYTHING that DEMOCRATS want to do is "wrong and untenable" not to mention part of a Bolshevik/Stalinist/Hitlerian/Orwellian plot to enslave the people of this country (especially conservatives). EVERYTHING that the Republicans want to do is ALWAYS 100% great, terrific, wonderful, right, strong, and positively 100% sunshine, lollipops, and rainbows!!!! :eyes:

8. Newsflash: Reconciliation is only necessary because of you and your party, you moron
I swear to God, the Democrats can go fuck themselves if they water down health care reform just to get her vote.

9. I notice republicans will bend to pass the Insurance corporation law..
Whenever public options or reconciliation pops up
Some Puke wants to put their fingers in the ointment.
The reconciliation process is wrong, since Olympia Snowe must hate democracy.

14. Any Democrat who gives her the time of day is a fool or worse.

16. She's painted herself into a very small corner

She said that she would vote for the bill if it had a trigger for the public option.

She voted for it in committee to show that she was close.

They took out the PO completely eliminating her previous objection.

Obviously she doesn't want a primary contender but I can't see how a Democrat doesn't make her look like a stooge if she doesn't vote for the bill now.

17. Why oh why are we bothering with her again. She was a big waste of time before.
I am beginning to think she is part of a Republican stall tactic.
