Obama schooling the Republicans was television as historic as the moon landing.
I could not imagine any other politician in the World doing this anywhere. Some are comparing it to PM’s Question Time in the UK, but that is a very short largely scripted event. This was not.

For Prime Minister’s Question Time to get anywhere near this, the whole of the Labour Party would have to leave Parliament, the procedural questions would have to go and the event would have to be twice as long.

This event killed the TOTUS meme Republicans were pushing. Notice the lack of one.

It was the House Republican Party 140 to 1 against the President.

It is highly unlikely that you will ever see the like of this again.

This is political debating at its finest, great television too, so far removed from the scripted talking points of the prepared format Presidential debates that they do not even compare and the Republicans handed this moment of history to Barack Obama on a silver platter.

3. As far as good television goes
yes, seriously. I doubt any politician would repeat this and if they did, it would not be on tv.

6. That's exactly what happened. They are so isolated in their highly filtered worlds, they think
they are smart, because the surround themselves with people like themselves and with stupid others who flatter them and the ones who actually do know what's going on use the whole environment for their OWN good, or for what they have defined BY THEMSELVES as what is good for the rest of us.

15. Exactly! I totally agree with your analysis!
The Reps suffer from "big fish in small pond" delusion, where, because they only listen and surround themselves with people who think like they do (or rather. . .who follow misleading media information and lies from a few leaders like they do), they believe that they cannot possibly be wrong, that they are very smart!

A few of them know better, but they have made that "delusion" a way to control the rest of the Reps followers!

And then, President Obama comes in front of them and demonstate true intellect, logic, fast thinking, and how TRUTH comes out when on eis as articulate and mentally strong as the President!

So,they go back to the board and start spinning again! I went to Fox News "opinion," the "brain dead" are still spinning. . .anything to keep their head in the sand!

17. Yep. Groupthink is very dangerous to Reality. There are examples everywhere.
Wall Street comes to mind, but also much more common and "low level" than that.

5. a bit hyperbolic, but . . .
I cannot count the number of times I have sat there and heard BULLSHIT treated as though it were significant and NOTHING HAPPENS. "My guy" MISSES multiple important opportunities to educate millions by not responding with direct point-for-point corrections.

ALL OF THEM ARE SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO FUCKING AFRAID TO DO ANYTHING BUT WHAT THEIR HANDLERS TELL THEM TO DO! IT'S KILLING US!!!

Sadly, I agree "It is highly unlikely that you will ever see the like of this again." The professional handlers, those who make a living telling others what we think and feel, will re-assert their control over these chicken-shit traitors we call leaders. And I do mean traitors because they are the ones who sold us into War Slavery and debt to China.

10. The Presidential debates are largely worthless.
The VP ones are(were) better, but after the winking mess the baked Alaskan fruitcake made of the last one, even the still restricted, but more free flowing debate will get reigned in.

Both campaign teams look where the previous debate went wrong and iron out any possibility of that happening again. In the end, the debate becomes worthless.

For any student of politics, the President at the Republican retreat was must see tv. It will never happen again, because the Republicans will not allow it with Obama and no future President will want to.

Can you imagine any Republican Leader in waiting doing this in from the Democratic House members? Sarah Palin would object to unfair questioning if they asked what letter came after V. She would accuse them of trying to tie her to Bush.

I may be ignorant, but I don't think there ever has been anything quite like that wink.

9. It is historic but very few people saw it and the media is playing it as a friendly discussion
so I'm not sure it will be remembered much in a few weeks by many Americans.

11. The Moon Landing?
I swear to Dog, but Dems can sound every bit as idiotic as the Repukes we decry.

No... It was NOT television as historic as the Moon Landing.
Yes, it was interesting and informative.
No, it was not like some total game-changer.
Yes, I would like to see him do that sort of thing more often.

Really, we need to get over the hyperbole and be objective about things and realistic in our goals.
You know, kinda like what he was saying to those Rep Reps the other day...

12. Hyperbole aside,
for any student of politics, now or in the future, for all of those interested in real political debate, this was a one off tv moment that will never be repeated.

It was an unprecedented must see tv moment for anyone interested in politics, wherever people are in the World.

13. If only the MSM cable interviewers would question their GOP guests
they way they questioned the President, maybe more citizens would understand the issues better and what the GOP really stands for. Gregory was a big disappointment when interviewing his guest today. So, the GOP presented Obama with a thick book of "ideas." Ok. Let the rest of us see the book. How about the having the person who brings up that book tell the rest of us what is in it? I bet 10:1 that the GOP touting that book have not read it just as they, obviously, had not read the HCR bill as the President pointed out.

22. I watch it each week.
It does not remotely compare. As I said, fr it to even compare, the whole of the Labour Party would need to not be seated during it, it would need to be over twice as long and all of the procedural questions would need to be removed.
