VERY disappointed in MSNBC this evening.
Three freaking hours of Tweety and the twits.
OMG - glad I have ESPN.

I can understand no Keith, we know what's up there but what?
Rachel ain't around?
Tweety is considered a "liberal" where I work.

They are shocked when I react like I just swallowed a wet cat hair ball when I hear that kind of stuff.
They also think I am from another planet, probably the same one Obama is from.

1. I know where Keith might have been,
but where did they send Rachel.

I realize that the words must have come down that Obama will have no success
with this Summit shit, cause it cuts out the MSM from being the filter between
politicians and the people, because something doesn't smell right.

2. And MSNBC just started a repeat!
Tweet & Chuckie kissing Lord McCain's ass again. I'd rather watch women's curling.

9. Could you come again? I don't understand you,
all I know is that you are a negative poster who rarely has anything to say
of any importance ever.

14. Rachel's partner had a show opening tonight in San Francisco. That's why she was in CA last
night and not on tonight.

Rachel tweeted this:

19. Thanks for the info
I also was very disappointed at no Rachel tonight. I have seen at least 3 threads tonight with the MSM conspiracy line. Duhh, hey, we ain't fucking freepers here; lets try to have a look first before leaping to conclusions. Even the most casual viewer heard/saw that homegirl was in SF on last nights show. Personally, I thought it was the weather but now we know the TRUTH..

Thanks again for this great piece of INFO my friend!!!.

6. It really was a lot of talk with no substance.
They couldn't even spin the usual BS talking points. None of them had a grasp of what had actually occurred except maybe Tweety to a point. I hope Rachel is back tomorrow and I don't have much hope Keith will because of his family crisis, but maybe Lawrence O'Donnell will fill in for him, I hope. I wonder why they didn't bring Ed Schultz on. He's the person whose really been on top of this health care issue and probably knows more about it than any of the others. Has Ed gotten into trouble with the suits for being too outspoken?

8. A few things...
First, people have to face the facts that the Republicans rehearsed well and didn't come off like utter buffoons the way they did when Obama embarrassed them at their retreat in Baltimore. Oh sure, they were still virtually always wrong, but they planned for this event and put on a decent show.

Second, winning the spin cycle certainly matters, but the pundits very often fall prey to their own echo chamber and completely fail to see an event the way the public views it. I remember several Clinton SOTU's that were panned by the media, yet the public loved the addresses and Clinton wound up getting impressive bumps in the polls.

I think Obama achieved exactly what he was aiming for. People like the President. He is a reasonable man and an excellent speaker and listener. Going into this battle over the next few weeks and months, the public just saw an American President making every effort to listen to all sides. He appeared thoughtful and willing to reach out if only the opposition would make any effort whatsoever to meet him half way. Obama is no dummy, he knows the GOP does not plan to negotiate in good faith. That was the whole point, to be able to demonstrate the lengths he has gone to try to work with Republicans, only to have them slap his efforts down.

Very good chance the polls in support of HCR get a decent bump after this. Even if the public doesn't warm to HCR, I bet Obama himself will see a bounce from this.

Personal anecdote which I know means little, but we had the TVs in our office on the debate, and pretty much the only parts people would walk out of their offices to listen to were when Obama was speaking. The sense I got from even those generally opposed to the President was that he seems like a fair person is willing to take all sides seriously.

12. I'm generally pretty good about giving credit where credit is due, even to
Repubs I loathe, but I didn't think they came off that much better today than at the retreat. Or maybe it was because Obama and some others spanked them so well and didn't give them an inch.

I think your personal anecdote means a lot! It always seems that we (both Dem and Rep voters) think our side does better in just about every instance, so those in your office who got that impression of Obama are a sign of encouragement! :hi:

11. Somethings going on - it's midnight eastern and they are replaying it...
So, basically what we have is six hours of Tweety and I'm not sure I've ever seen anything like this before.
I think they will look at the numbers tomorrow and see they were in the tank.
NO ONE can endure 3 hours of Tweety on his own.
Even with the twits.

Keith and Rachel were out of pocket tonight and they will pay for it.

13. Overall a decent analysis even if it did start out shitty. Tweety, Toad, and Savannah Who?
warmed to the Democratic side after their first few minutes of obligatory sniping and Republican love. They were unanimous in praising President O and loved the way the Dems were slamming the Republican lies.

They also agreed that the republicans were parroting talking points and sounding pretty shrill while trying to put on their pretty face.

I think the entire team did just fine even though Rachel would have been my first choice.

Imajika got it right, IMO.

Yep-

I can't stand Tweety however.
I never have got over that shit with Tom Delay.
I don't trust him, and that most certainly clouds my opinion of him.

16. Of all days! I turned it off. No Rachel. No Keith. Even no Ed.
The icing today would've been Rachel playing Etch-a-Sketch.

Oh, well, I did some reading instead.

18. To be fair about the Olympics....
... NBC had, no doubt, long ago sold ad time to sponsors buying time during an Olympic hockey game (no matter who was playing) LONG before the President announced the summit.

And let's he honest, *WE ARE WEIRDOS* ... there are probably more people who'd want to watch a hockey game than the last two and a half hours of a DC policy summit.
