Conservative Republican Christine O'Donnell is expected to formally kick off her third run for a seat in the U.S. Senate today at 10:30 a.m. at a rally just outside Wilmington.
O'Donnell, 40, ran for Senate in 2006 and 2008, and has been "unofficially" campaigning for months and even has a campaign Web site.
Today's announcement makes it clear that she will not be stepping aside to make way for Republican Rep. Mike Castle, who announced in October that he would be seeking the open Senate seat, and that O'Donnell will be attacking him from the right.
The press release from O'Donnell, touting today's event at the University of Delaware's Wilmington campus, is headlined, "O'Donnell announcement adds Delaware to growing list of states hosting conservative insurgencies against liberal Republican incumbents."
