New MoveOn Ad Asks Dems: “Which Side Of History Will YOU Be On?”


The air cover from the left is now gearing up in earnest, and MoveOn is set to unleash a national ad pressing House Dems to support health reform by suggesting that in historical terms it would rank up there with the Civil Rights movement and the freeing of the slaves.

The ad, the group’s first national spot in the final stretch, was sent my way by a MoveOn official, and it features shots of Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King and Lyndon Johnson:

“Throughout history, America has been blessed with heroic leaders — individuals who helped us to navigate between right and wrong,” the spot says. “We need our leaders to fight for what’s right. Call Congress today and ask them: Which side of history will YOU be on?”

The spot, a six-figure buy on national cable, comes after MoveOn’s membership voted overwhelmingly last week to support the Senate bill with a reconciliation fix, suggesting there’s now a high degree of consensus on the left that this is the best way forward.

Also: While the ad makes a rather grandiose appeal to lawmakers’ historical consciences, it also sends a straightforward political message to them: If they take a tough vote and pass reform, they’ll have major air cover from big-spending groups as they head into the bruising fall campaign. If not, well…

If you piad attention, those are ALL the major issues the Republican Party wanted at the start of the debate, and YET The Democratic Party now OWNS the Bill.
The Republicans got everything wanted without being forced to take any Political Risks.

NOW, when there is almost NOTHING left in the Bill that is "Democratic", the Party Leadership decides its time to pass this Republican Bill (National RomneyCare) through reconciliation.

ALL the Republicans have to do now is sit back while Premiums continue to go UP and say,
"Yep. We opposed it."
"The Democrats raised your premiums, and rammed it down your throat."
This WILL play well in low information America.

The Democratic response of,
"Well YES. Your Premiums have gone up. but not as much as they would have if we hadn't passed this bill." which is the TRUTH, but will be LAUGHED AT...openly ridiculed.
ALL America will know is that there is LESS money in their wallets.

Anybody who paid attention over the last year has GOT to be asking themselves "Who is the Democratic Party Leadership really working for?

As far as the Health Insurance Industry goes, they WILL be happy with their $Trillion Dollars, No Public Option, and 45 MILLION MANDATED customers....very happy indeed.
They will simply divide up the 45 Million herded into the Exchange Pens, and go about the shearing. With NO Public Option, there IS no competition.

The Health Insurance Industry has an ARMY of Lawyers and Lobbyists on the payroll who will immediately begin attacking the token "regulations" put in this bill to make it seem more palatable.
The regulations won't stand a chance.
If you have lived in America over the last 30 years, you already KNOW this.

The Health Insurance Industry is very, VERY happy with this bill.
Any public opposition at this point is pure theatrics:
