CBS News: National Debt Up $2 Trillion on Obama's Watch
Let's blame Obama for everything!

The latest posting from the Treasury Department shows the National Debt has increased over $2 trillion since President Obama took office.

The debt now stands at $12.6 trillion. On the day Mr. Obama took office it was $10.6 trillion.

President George W. Bush still holds the record for the most debt run up on his watch: $4.9 trillion. But it took him over four years to rack up the first two trillion dollars in debt. It has taken Mr. Obama 421 days.

But the Obama Administration routinely blames the Bush Administration for inheriting a budget surplus and turning it into years of record-breaking deficits and debt -- and then leaving it on the doorstep of the new president.

5. Ask Mark Knoller
Douchebag extraordinaire for CBS News. According to this guy, Obama owns all of this spending that Bush set us up for.

7. Bush also didn't have a near-depression to work with in his first year.
Apples & fucking oranges.

This reads like an editorial and not a news piece. :eyes:

8. It's the war, stupid!
Obama chose to continue and expand our imperial wars. Guess why we are going bankrupt?

10. Is he expanding the war in Iraq?
Last I saw he was drawing down. Also, going backrupt is not due to Obama not being out of these 2 wars in his first year. You know that.

12. There is Afghanistan, Somalia, Yemen, Western Africa, the Philippines
We are conducting military operations of some sort in all of those places, plus we are building a huge network of military bases in Colombia of all places.

14. That's fine and dandy, but it doesn't explain this year's increased budget deficit.
Which is what the PO was originally about and why I chose to comment on yours. If what you do is list where we have military bases on each of these threads, then that's all well and good, I know, we're imperialists, but that's not really what I was was asking with my comment.

9. There is no tax revenue. This is not about spending (as CBS would like you to believe).
Kinda sick, this type of writing is.

11. Water, water everywhere
And not a drop to drink.

Too bad none of the filthy lucre deficit has gone to help the people of this country.

Jam yesterday and jam tomorrow, but always wars today.

13. MY comment:
Wow!
What an amazing piece of UTTER TRIPE you've concocted, Mr. Knoller!
Explain exactly how Obama gets blamed for the $1.3 Trillion in deficits he was handed right after taking the oath of office? Neither should he in particular be held to account for the $700 Billion he had to spend to pull us out of the screaming economic nosedive that 8 Years of Republican rule left us in.
Republican policies have proven to be epic failures again, and again, and again. And yet the GOP, the party that claims it's all about "personal responsibility", runs screaming from any accountability for its repeated failures, all the while carping at the Democrats left to clean up Republican messes.

I'm *reasonably* confident that nobody on CBS mentioned THAT or linked to this: http://www.therationalradical.com/transcripts/163transcript-deficitdebt.htm  :eyes:
