Republicans 'pissed' they weren't given CBO numbers
By Michael O'Brien - 03/18/10 10:45 AM ET

Republicans are "pissed" Thursday about not having been provided with a copy of the Congressional Budget Office's (CBO) estimate of the healthcare bill.

A Senate Republican aide said Thursday that no Republicans have been given the CBO's official estimate of the healthcare bill, details of which were leaked out by Democrats this morning.

"It’s a departure from the way they’ve operated throughout the health debate, and to describe Republicans as pissed would be an understatement," a Senate GOP aide told The Hill.

Democrats released topline numbers from the CBO on Thursday estimating the cost of their reconciliation healthcare bill at $940 billion over the first 10 years. The bill is estimated to save $130 billion over the first decade, and $1.2 trillion in the following decade.

House and Senate Republicans were dismissive of the report on Thursday, saying the health reform plan before Congress would still pile debt onto future generations, and arguing that the health plan's total costs far exceed CBO's estimates.

House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Henry Waxman (D-Calif.) said the entire CBO report's text would be released likely sometime this afternoon.

15. Here's a republican strategy
If every republican came out today and said they would ALL vote yes on HCR, then Democrats everywhere would definately think something was terribly wrong with the bill and insist it be voted down. So c'mon republicans....vote YES on HCR and scare all the Dems.

17. What the repukes are pissed about is the facts are disputing their lies
in a very direct and obvious manner. True to form though, it didn't stop them from repeating their lies.
