9. If it means Obama wins in 2012 -- and Palin/Romney loses --

you bet I'm for it.

The bill is far from perfect -- we all know that. I wish some of the provisions would start immediately instead of 2014. Expanding Medicare would have been far simpler and more efficient, but it would have put a lot of people out of (near-worthless) insurance jobs during a recession. (More productive work for them would be better -- if we had any.)

So on balance, I think passing this will help cement our Democratic majority this fall, because it forces the GOP to run on repealing help for healthcare -- a tenuous position, or one might say a nuanced one. Their scare tactics won't work once it passes and the world doesn't end.
