1. Before the "fixes" are final.... If they don't vote in the reconciliation

package, the Senate version remains in place.... (so, they damned well better vote in that House Reconciliation package).

8. True, but the dynamics change

They are NOT voting on whether health care becomes law, they are voting on a set of things that are very easy to defend. They can accuse a Republican against it as being FOR all the deals that it eliminates. Think of the fun - the Republicans want to run on "you voted for the "corn husker dealer", but in fact, it will be every House member who votes against it, who did. It is easier for a House member to explain voting for both bills.

2. No. The Senate has already passed this bill.

As soon as it's passed, it goes to the President who will sign it tonight (or whenever he receives it).

The Senate will have to pass the "fixes" through reconcilation, but Reid gave Pelosi a letter signed by 51 Senators promising to do just that.

and then the Senate will take up a series of "fixes" to make some changes, but whenever President Obama signs it, it becomes law
