where they're at now. Tommy Douglas was hated, threatened, called every nasty name in the book - a whole province of doctors went on strike in protest. Ours took a long time, and is still evolving.

Since the current reform is copied in most details from the Dutch system, and the Netherlands is in green, the US now will be green also. And yes, contrary to a lie often seen on DU, Dutch mandated insurance is sold by both for-profit and not-for-profit companies.

As long as we don't have single payer, this country will never be the moral equal of those countries that do. It is a DISGRACE that we treat our most vulnerable citizens this way, and it is our great shame as a nation to have to own the atrocities that have been visited upon us by insurance companies.

I am one of the millions currently without health insurance, and I still oppose this corporate SHAM masquerading as a "progressive victory." This bill is an embarrassment that rewards the parasitic insurers who caused these problems in the first place. Call me a DINO, accuse me of wanting a pony or a unicorn or whatever, but it doesn't make me any less right.

Not quite sure this health "insurance" bill rates us even close to the other 1st world countries in regards to healthcare. This bill makes health "insurance" almost universal, it does not however make health "care" universal.

Yes it will be better in some ways then what we had, but it is not ANYTHING like what Europe, Canada, etc have.
