Already one of the GREATEST PRESIDENTS EVER.
Edited on Mon Mar-22-10 10:54 AM by NJmaverick
It's been 14 months. Just 14 months since Barack Obama stepped into the Oval Office, only to be greeted by the biggest shitstorm in 80 years and a country on the verge of complete collapse, on every front you could think of.

In 14 torturing months, with extraordinary weight of expectations and history on his shoulders, facing the most vicious opposition and more death threats than any president ever, Barack Obama brought this country back from the abyss:

1) He saved the economy.
2) In a few months he'll end the war in Iraq.
3) He actually has a plan and strategy in Afghanistan.
4) America is finally joining the world fighting climate change and aspiring for energy independence.
5) He single-handedly restored America's place and reputation in the world.

And now there's this little thing called health care reform. FDR couldn't make it happen. Harry Truman couldn't make it happen. JFK couldn't make it happen. LBJ couldn't make it happen. Richard Nixon couldn't make it happen. Jimmy Carter couldn't make it happen. Bill Clinton couldn't make it happen.

10. He has certainly accomplished a lot in his 14 months
more than Bush did in 8 years and is nearly on par with some of the accomplishment of President Clinton

16. Again it is a promising start but it is to early to tell.....
Hopefully he will stay well away from President Clintons main accomplishment and the reason behind it!

If he does then yes he will be up there as Presidents go.

17. well I don't think luck has much to do with his success
I think he has brains, charisma, hard work, a willingness to be flexible and a good heart as the keys to his success. With that, odds are very good for continued success.

11. k/r - I think people underestimate the intensity of the opposition
to his presidency.

Race IS a factor. The Teabaggers couldn't hold it back yesterday.

He's dealing with all the shit a Dem usually gets in this corporate-controlled environment plus dealing with all the mess that the Bush administration set in motion and has now started to blow up, along with being the first black president.

He's doubted, questioned and challenged at every turn like no other president I've seen, and he isn't halfway through his first term.

He's accused of doing nothing because some people apparently need to literall SEE evidence of manic activity or else they can't comprehend anything being accomplished. Or, if someone's pet issue hasn't already been taken care of and delivered on a silver platter despite every Republican in Congress seemingly dedicated to obstructing and derailing this presidency, then Obama is a fail.

And despite all that, look what's been done SO FAR.

I have zero tolerance for anyone who says he's done nothing of significance. To hell with that.

14. An appropriate analogy is what happened to Jackie Robinson
When he first joined the team, he got put through sooooooo much shit just like Obama did even though Jackie had just as much if not more talent than a lot of the other guys on his team but he was treated like he was less just because of the color of his skin. And you know what? Jackie just endured it and now he's acknowledged as one of the greatest players just for his sportsmanship, grace under fire AND his superb playing record. So you know what? I'm happy with what Obama's done with what he had to work with. It's kinda amazing that he's accomplished this much if you think about it.

13. President Obama also gave us a good credit card reform bill &
Sonia Sotomayor to the SCOTUS.....Good chance another opening will occur soon, w/Justice Stevens likely to retire...

It's so awesome to wake up in the morning & know that Barack Obama is the POTUS.....People can be proud of the office of the president again, after the last guy, whose name i forget, was such an utter embarassment to the planet...

19. His detractors confuse his civility for weakness.
They continue to underestimate this presidents political skills at their own peril...and are defining the meaning of insanity by continuing to do so, and expecting different results each time.

The store of political capital Mr. Obama now has is tremendous.

And he is going to roll out the rest of his agenda whilst his opponents are off-balance and in disarray.

He's going to steamroll their punk asses.

22. Obama is also a man people like.
He's disarmingly bright and funny and possessed of the "We" energy.

A class act.

And he's the people's class act.
