Death panels and dead grandmas didn't work, so the Republican focus has shifted from "kill the bill" to repeal it:

... some of the GOP's top voices are calling for a repeal of President Barack Obama's signature domestic achievement.

And the Democrats' response needs to be, what do you want to repeal first? Not discriminating against children with pre-existing conditions? Allowing children to stay on their parents insurance until they're 26? Insurance companies not being allowed to drop you if you get sick or capping the amount they'll pay if you have a catastrophic illness? Which ones are Republicans against?

In other words, bring it on.

Please let the Republicans be stupid enough to run on a platform that promises to take insurance away from 30 million registered voters.

5. Who's going to be outraged?

The more than 250 million people who already have health care, who will now be protected from insurance abuses and skyrocketing premiums, or the 32 million who do not have coverage? If you picked the latter, how many among them?

10. Some people....

Some people have a resonable right to be pissed. They are mostly single, younger, healthier and currently uninsured. They're not seeking coverage because they don't see any value in being covered. They'd like to see uninsured people get health care, but they're not wild about having to pay for it themselves.

Those people WILL have to obtain coverage and it's understandable that they'd be upset about it. They see themselves as having to buy something that they don't want and don't feel that they need.

That being said, ANY form of universal coverage (Canadian-Style, Public Option, Whatever) requires that everybody gets into the risk pool. You don't have the option of staying out just because you don't WANT it. You NEED this coverage whether you believe it or not. You can't wait until after you get sick (or in an accident) and then demand treatment.

The number of people who fit this demographic are comparatively small, and their numbers compared to the overall electorate are even smaller.

11. You don't need a mandate to do all the other stuff

That is just gravy for the insurance companies.

Only progressive taxes should be paid for consistent across the board benefits that do not produce profits.

It's a deal that should be made with the American people to never mandate for profit services.

6. They can try all they want.

But best case nothing is happening until AT LEAST Jan 2013, because the guy who would have to sign the repeal of anything into law (you know, the President, some guy named Obama) ain't gonna do it. And, really, chances are better that nothing can happen until AT LEAST January 2017 after the end of his second term.

What they'd likely try and do is repeal any purported taxes from the bill, which would also further their goal of sinking the govenment so they can "drown it in a bathtub."

Whatever the case, realistically they won't be able to make any changes/repeals to this, and they know it.
