USA Today: Opinions turn favorable on health care plan

WASHINGTON — Americans by 9 percentage points have a favorable view of the health care overhaul that President Obama signed into law Tuesday, a USA TODAY/Gallup Poll finds, a notable turnaround from surveys before the vote that showed a plurality against it.

3. Score! Actually, this poll doesn't suggest much change in opinion

The previous polls were asking people if they were for his plan, but many were against it because they wanted more.

This poll asked people if it's a good thing, which means all those people who were against it because it didn't go far enough at the very least think this bill is a good thing.

If you add those who opposed the plan because it wasn't liberal enough to those who favored the plan, it was 52-43.

How come people weren't talking about this? Because the media can't handle complicated thoughts.

22. It's so depressing

I caught this on Olbermann last night (I think). It really is amazing how bad the media is at reporting. I guess they figured it works for Rasmussen (with their "Strongly Approve" and "Strongly Disapprove," which makes numbers look much worse). It's just insane how they compare only top line answers and refuse to analyze ALL the data as a whole.

Then again, nothing should shock me anymore with the media.

But it's nice that the reporting of the polls finally proves what you just said. Many here have been saying all along that even as the media pushes the narrative that a majority of Americans were against the bill, they failed over and over to point out that unfavorable poll numbers included the unsatisfied from BOTH sides of the aisle.

It's nice to finally see the reporting of polls finally bear that theory out.

8. Some very important items in this poll....especially look at the negative reactions to the Rethugs

First: "The largest single group, 48%, calls the bill "a good first step" that should be followed by more action on health care." Exactly what many of us have been arguing for months.
Second: "No one gets overwhelmingly positive ratings on the issue, but Obama fares the best: 46% say his work has been excellent or good; 31% call it poor. Congressional Democrats get an even split: 32% call their efforts good or excellent; 33% poor."
Third: "The standing of congressional Republicans is more negative. While 26% rate their work on health care as good or excellent, a larger group, 34%, say it has been poor."

Rethugs are not looking good from this at all. 26/34. No where near the positive ratings that Obama got, slightly more negative then the Dems.
