...Reid's campaign sends us this statement, from Reid himself: "Searchlight doesn't get many tourists so I'm glad they are choosing to bring all their out-of-state money to my hometown. The influx of money will do the town some good. I encourage everyone to drop by the Nugget to say hello to Verlie and grab a 10 cent cup of coffee."

2. Reid has quite the understated sense of humor and of irony.

I recall when bush nominated Harriet Miers and Reid released a statement saying he knew MS Miers and that he thought she was a very nice and gracious lady.

It drove some DUers up the wall, but Reid proved to be quite adept. It was of course the right wing who ended up viciously attacking Miers and derailing her nomination. And Reid looked as innocent as a choirboy.

Reid never endorsed her for the Court. He didn't have to lift a hand to defeat her. I thought it was well done.

Harry made his bones years ago, before some of the shreikers from the other side were even born.

3. I remember him standing in the Senate in 2003 during a filibuster...

by the Democrats regarding bush nominees for judgeships where he spoke for 9 HOURS, reading from his book about his hometown, Searchlight.

that is, going out of my way specifically to Searchlight. Eat a meal, look around and spend some money. especially though to tell the locals that Many many more people in "SANE" America, appreciate Harry Reid and wish him re-election.
