George Will and Peggy Noonan prove they have no fucking idea what they are talking about
Edited on Sun Mar-28-10 02:07 PM by zulchzulu
I watched (more like grimaced while I watched) George Will and Peggy Noonan participate in their usual claptrap on the health care reform issues.

While trashing the new health care reform legislation for having mandates as part of the legislation and forwarding the idea that people deserve to be able to throw bricks through office windows of their opposition because they are mad, there was the obvious clue that these asshats literally have no idea what they are yammering about.

Peggy Noonan, deriding the lack of bipartisan efforts to pass the recent legislation, then went on about how it was a shining light of day when there could have been kumbaya between the parties if they had just passed the "wonderful legislation" with the Snowe-Wyden amendment.

You know, the one that got rid of the Public Option and HAD MANDATES... yeah, that one.

George Will chimed in (thankfully without corny baseball references) that the Snowe-Wyden was fantastic, amazing, better than sliced bread and was perhaps the beginning of Armageddon when it was rejected.

Yes, Olympia Snowe, that beacon of Republican joy and splendor, had teamed up with Democrat Ron Wyden to not only kill the Public Option but also make it mandated with real penalties if coverage was rejected.

That apparently was better than the current legislation passed.

Snowe-Wyden amendment:
http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/09/16/health.care/index.html

No transcript of Roundtable, but some video:
http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2010/03/roundtable-health-care-reform-mccain-and-palin-reunion.html

If anything, this is a CLASSIC example of how the Right Wing Echo Machine has confused the American people with absolute, bold-faced lies about health care reform and have caused such national division.

Could Noonan and Will have been truthful about even this issue regarding the Snowe-Wyden amendment or perhaps have done their homework that it also had mandates as an integral part of the legislation?

Hell NO! That's the battle cry of Republicans.

Be honest? Hell NO!

Want to help those who need health care? Hell NO!

Want to tell the truth on TV when they are asked questions? Hell NO!

1. Peggy says people are emailing her asking her to explain the bill
oh god I can't even imagine what kind of person, if they don't understand the legislation, would turn to Peggy Noonan for help.

3. Turn to Peggy if you want bullshit branding lines that Frank Luntz didn't think up yet
Maybe Will and Noonan got their talking point from Luntz.

32. Stick to what you do best
George Will should stick to writing about baseball, and Peggy Nooner should go back to what she did best, servicing politicians for lunch hours.

The sky is blue. Water is wet. I'm surprised they didn't repeat the lie about Cantor's office being "attacked", like Sanjay Gupta did this morning.

6. I don't understand the need for the brainless "roundtable" chatter on the Sunday shows
Nobody but political junkies watch these things. I don't think anybody on the planet gives a shit what Will or Noonan think about an issue; it's not going to influence anybody either way. Cut all of the shows to 30 minutes and interview actual newsmakers. Skip the other crap.

...if he read the three words he looked up in a thesaurus before the show written on his soft little hands.

Just ask his first wife Madeline who dumped his shit on the lawn of their Chevy Chase MD house with a sign saying "Take it somewhere else, buster."

9. George Will loses all credibility when he gets angry and loses all cogent thought

and as for Noonan, she just likes listening to herself speak, like she's browsing an antique store and wants everyone to know what a lovely thing-a-majoozy she just found for her most wonderful mantle, with such lovely blah blah blah blah

I salute MSNBC for having her on - because she is the perfect annoying GOP representative to make them look stoopid and self-involved. You know. The perfect example of the true GOP

16. I miss Monty Python. They would have a skit with bloviating Peggy Noonan
Imagine Monty Python now.

Whenever Peggy Noonan would begin speaking in her bloviating, over-dramatic, "look at me me, I'm a fucking Literati" garbage, a little string quartet would play some Vivaldi and some pixie-dusting angel would would fling pixie dust all over as she went the hell on and on...

28. Excerpt from the transcript:
Edited on Mon Mar-29-10 04:04 PM by Pryderi
WILL: First of all, Paul's prizes in economics not practical Washington wisdom. No one that I know, Paul, thinks the Cadillac tax that's been kicked down the road on the expensive health care plans until 2018 will ever be enacted.

No one thinks the Medicare cuts are ever going to be enacted. One of the ways this simple workable legislation is going to be made to work is the IRS is going to hire about 16,000 new agents to chase the American people around to make sure they pay their mandatory fees.

One half, approximately one half of the 35 million or so people who previously uninsured who are not going to be uninsured, are going to go on, the Medicaid of rules of our overburdened state governments. All of that cost will be pushed down into property taxes. This is going to have unintended consequences that will boggle your mind.

BRAZILE: I think we're going to spend the next six months once again trying to debunk all of these myths and these lies and this misinformation that's been floating around on the Internet over the last couple of years.

I was a fan of hers. Here lately she is sounding like the rest of the haters. George has always been a hater. I wonder how long before he disrepects the new host. Christine A. should make his blood boil.
