Former NATO Commander Wes Clark has endorsed Cal Cunningham in the Democratic Senate primary.
Clark, a former presidential candidate, compared his backing of Cunningham with his decision to support Jim Webb in Virginia's Democratic Senate primary four years ago, reports Rob Christensen.
"This is another key pick-up opportunity in a southern 'swing state,' and Cal is beyond a doubt the best candidate to take on (Republican Sen.) Richard Burr this November," Clark writes in an e-mail fundraising letter sent out by the Cunningham campaign.
"Cal would be the first veteran of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan to serve in the U.S. Senate," Clark writes. "He would bring a veteran's unique perspective to policymaking in Washington."
