1. I agree. I think noncompliance is overestimated.

If you're told that you must purchase medical insurance which will cost you $1000 or "pay a $300 penalty", I believe a large percentage will buy the insurance because we (depending on how you look at it) tend to play by the rules or are mindless sheep who do as we are told.

choice. Everyone is talking about insurance companies and the individual market. Well if you're in the individual market, you'll have access to a non-profit plan.

5. A bit of goal post moving.

I know there were people that questioned the level of participation that the mandate could force. I just don't remember it rising to the level of "a big concern about health care reform". For one, those most "worried" were the folks who profit from selling health care. What if this aspect works "better"? The insurance companies will get more government subsidy dollars, the health care industry will get more paid receipts, and there will be fewer people "exempt" from having to buy insurance.

Dunno why but that was the first thing i thought i saw and was weirded out. I am STILL not fully on board...this lack of cost control is growing more annoying daily.

8. He made an interesting point on "Meet the Press" Sunday...

.... saying that the CBO is, by its nature, very conservative when it comes to scoring a bill. If something cant be assured, they'll score it a zero rather than say it will save money.

His basic point was that the bill could save even more than we think.
