POLL: Democrats Gain in Ohio. Fisher, Brunner up over Portman. Strickland up over Kasich.
Democrats Gain in Ohio

A new Quinnipiac poll finds that Democrats are having a mini-surge in Ohio and now lead in both the U.S. Senate and Governor's races.

In the Senate race, Lt. Gov. Lee Fisher (D) leads Rob Portman (R) 41% to 37%, reversing a three point Portman lead in February. Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner (D) also edges Portman, 38% to 37%, reversing a five point Portman lead.

In the gubernatorial race, Gov. Ted Strickland (D) leading challenger John Kasich (R), 43% to 38%.

4. Portman is a chamber-of-commerce lackey and Kasich is a nutbag.
I hope these seats stay blue.

6. And as OHIO goes, so goes the nation .....
... Ohio is the new Maine. ;)

Excellent news, esp about Gov. Strickland or as *I* like to call him, "The lemon meringue pie governor."

If I live to be 150 years old, I will STILL be remember that one day, Barack Obama had a piece of coconut cream pie in Ohio with Gov. Ted Strickland ... who had lemon meringue.

And WHY did he have coconut cream? Because they didn't have sweet potato. :)

11. Maine was only a bellwether until 1932 and probably only because there were so many GOP Presidents
James Farley changed the phrase to "As goes Maine, so goes Vermont" in 1936.

7. One more good thing from this poll that I just saw is Obama's approval went up in Ohio.
Edited on Wed Mar-31-10 08:31 AM by Jennicut
"In the February Quinnipiac poll, President Obama had 44 percent saying they approved of his job performance, while 52 percent said they disapproved. Now, the president’s rating are nearly even – 47 percent approve, 48 percent disapprove."http://cincinnati.com/blogs/politics/2010/03/31/dems-obama-up-in-ohio-poll/

I think it will continue to go up.
Quinnipiac is a good poll, actually done by a local college here in CT. Has a good rep and I trust these #'s.

9. Keep the momementum going
High turnout is needed nationwide to send a message that America rejects Republican nut baggery. Fight hard. Encourage friends, neighbors and family members to register and vote!

10. The Dems aren't really leading, they're pulling even.
The poll has a margin of error of +/- 2.5%. That means the races between the Dem candidates and Portman are now too close to call, whereas Portman used to be ahead. It's still an advance from the prior situation, it's just not "leading" as yet.
