I'd love to see her run and be exposed as the complete lunatic she is. On one hand, I just want to dismiss her, but on the other hand there are a whole lot of lunatics out there being really vocal that believe her stupid rhetoric. Some of them are so entrenched now in their misinformed views, I have to wonder if anything can be done or said that will satisfy them. I remember feeling quite a bit of anxiety about Bush's terms--they pale in comparison to what I feel now about the possibility of any republican back in office. I can't help but feel that democrats really need to step up the talking points and find some succinct catch phrases for the masses on a whole variety of issues.

I don't begrudge her the financial rewards so much as I would deeply resent her entering the 2012 presidential race.

I don't think Republican county chairpersons like her much and privately wish she would just go away. Were Palin to head the Pukes' 2012 ticket, many of the GOP down-ballot races would be jeopardized, and some lost outright. She would be national poison to their local pudding.

As well, there is the notion that in the best case public service attracts people like Russ Feingold and Bernie Sanders and Barbara Boxer. When people like Sarah Palin are involved, things get murky and stupid real fast.

Left to me, I'd keep her on FOX News where at least her incessant stupidity can remain limited and isolated.

32. IMO Palin cannot win the Republican nomination in 2012.

Perhaps she will run as a Republican in the Iowa caucus, but when _______ wins that vote, on that cold January night, before the media file the story, she will announce her long-time plan to run as an Independent.

This assures her of attention and media slobbering well into the spring of that year. It generates buzz and outrage. It eclipses the victory headline for whichever Republican actually does win in Iowa.

Then she asks say, Franklin Graham, to run as her vice presidential nominee. A lot of nutbags coast to coast would flock to that ticket. If Romney is the nominee for the GOP, he simply could not compete against Obama in swing states if even 2 or 3 % of his base aligns with Palin-Graham.

The Ron Paul wing of the Republicans already want to bolt the party because of the despised neo-cons. This ticket could get 10% or more aganst (let's say) Romney and Obama. Obama could win with 45%, Romney 42%, and Palin 13%.

Romney still is the wild card in the GOP scenario. He has loads of cash, unlimited ambition, and the nutbags distrust him because he's a Mormon. Things could get wild with Romney. I wonder if last cycle he looked at the field and thought Huckabee and Giuliani would be the two to worry about, at least initially. He must have figured that McCain was too clueless and clunky to be a serious contender. That McCain eventually won the nomination doesn't say much for Romney's campaign. He'll have to make some adjustments if he goes for it a second time.
