PSST! Hey Obama... Oil Leak In The Great Barrier Reef....
You know I love ya Obama, but I'm just sayin...

http://www.smh.com.au/environment/oil-leaking-from-grounded-coal-ship-in-great-barrier-reef-20100404-rl6y.html

"Oil patches have been spotted in the Great Barrier Reef near a grounded coal carrier off central Queensland, a statement from Maritime Safety Queensland has confirmed.

The vessel is expected to require salvage assistance.

The 230 metre-long bulk coal carrier Shen Neng 1 ran aground about 70 kilometres east of Great Keppel Island just after 5pm yesterday, sparking a national oil spill response plan."

2. The term vessel may
mitigate any responsibility, no matter how ephermeral, Obama may have.

3. Don't Most Oil Spills Come From Tankers?
I'm not grasping how this is somehow Obama's responsibility.

5. So ban all international transport by ships?
The ships must carry fuel to transport things.

6. So. Was it double-hulled?
Which increases the chances of a spill-free voyage?

I doubt it. Exxon did take the VALDEZ and repair it. Even though studies have shown that double-hulling will help the environment, EVEN THOUGH EXXON HAD THE EXXON VALDEZ FUCKING OIL SPILL THAT WE ARE ALL STILL PAYING FOR, Exxon chose not to double-hull the VALDEZ during her drydock and repair before changing her name and shipping her off to serve in I think it was the Caspian.

Just sayin' right along with you, indeed.

7. Being a coal freighter, probably not.
Are you of the opinion that all ships be double-hulled?

11. Pretty much.

Pollution-carrying vessels and diapers work pretty well with backup-plan mentality driving the processes.

9. I'm not in favor of opening up any new drilling offshore or much at all BUT
this is a barge leak.

Folks do need to stop pretending that off shore platforms don't have issues and when they do it is a very substantial problem but doing this allows certain quarters to mock and act a fool.

Smarter and less ridiculous minds could look at the damage as a related example but many need straight line information since if dots have to be connected then there is plenty of room for faux plausible deniability, red herrings, mocking, wait and see, attacking the messenger, and miscellaneous dodging of the general issue.
