What worked for Mr. Rove before won't work again. His strategy - divide as much as possible and energize the base - would not have worked against Barack Obama in 2008, and it won't work in 2012. Because Al Gore and John Kerry, while fine men and great Americans, both are lacking in some qualities which Barack Obama possesses in abundance.

Rove isn't an evil genius. He's just evil. And what worked in 1992 didn't work in 2000, and what worked in 2000 didn't work in 2008. Electioneering is a fluid process; winning the Presidency in 2012 and 2016 will require strategies as yet unknown. I wouldn't worry. This was going to happen from the moment the SCOTUS made that dangerous ruling last month about corporate financing of elections.

Their base will listen, sure. They're a captive audience; they're programmed to listen. Mr. Rove will solidify the base, but it doesn't need solidifying. That base is shrinking. Growing their base will take someone with charisma and intelligence, and as I look upon the horizon to the right, I don't see anyone coming.

3. Sorry but don't agree! At this point in time with President Obama thinking that war is still needed

in Afghanistan, and not drawing down in Iraq, and not putting an end to many of the things that the Bush Administration thought were fine, we have a problem. I like President Obama, but I am very wary of his agenda. It would seem to me that he is more into Corporations than he is to the American people as I have always believed. I supported, donated and believed in the direction that he was going to lead us, but have since become very suspect of "Change you can believe in".
