Tea Party Groups Make Harry Reid Target No. 1
Edited on Sun Apr-04-10 06:59 PM by ClarkUSA
Blinds drawn against the desert sun, this is the new burrow of Eric Odom, a chief organizer of the first nationwide Tea Parties last year. He moved here a few weeks ago with his fiancée and a blogger sidekick to mobilize the state’s Tea Party groups for the midterms. By training activists in get-out-the-vote tactics like the “voter bombs” that helped Republican Scott Brown seize his Senate victory in Massachusetts, they are hoping to unseat Nevada’s senior senator and the Democrat’s leader, Harry Reid.

In a matter of weeks, this state has become ground zero for Tea Party members, who understand that as a symbol of the new movement’s power, you cannot get bigger than beating the highest ranked Democrat in Congress... Tea Party Nation, which sponsored the inaugural Tea Party national convention in Nashville in February, plans to hold its second convention here in July
... Our Country Deserves Better, run by Republican consultants in California, invested extensively in its Tea Party Express kickoff on Saturday — hiring skywriters to etch phrases like “Vote Reid Out” and “No New Taxes” in the bright blue sky...The three front runners seem to be Sue Lowden, the former state Republican chairwoman, Danny Tarkanian, the son of the legendary former University of Nevada-Las Vegas coach, and Sharron Angle.

“If we had all informed voters, it would be Bill Parson that would be our candidate,” Mr. Warren said, referring to another Republican who is popular among Tea Partiers. “Unfortunately not everybody pays attention.”

So he is hoping only the most active Tea Party — or grassroots voters — come out.

“We’re telling people, if they don’t have an opinion, don’t guess,” he said. “Stay home.”

Are there any Democrats/Obama supporters/left-leaning indies from Nevada here? Harry Reid needs your help.

1. I fear for the good citizens of Nevada. These people are going to terrorize all of Nevada.

2. We can only hope that their freakish antics will galvanize sane voters to go to the polls.

This serves as a heads-up to Nevada Democrats and left-leaning indies who have their heads in the sand about this November's elections.

I have close and extended family living in Nevada. I've already sent this article to them and asked them to volunteer with Reid's campaign when they can. OFA volunteers from surrounding states will be asked to go there to help GOTV in the fall but Reid needs help now to help sell the benefits of HCR and the good news about the recovering economy.

4. Not Obama Supporters: DEMOCRATS.
I know there has been a lot of Anti Reid Support on this board and elsewhere - but here is a little something to think about:

Do you really want to lost this seat to a teabagger? ANOTHER seat? We lost Teddy's seat, can we REALLY afford another one? It's time to be pragmatic.

I will do what I can to help.

12. I am not at all convinced Harry deserves my help
In fact I am looking for any out so that I don't have to vote for him. If he were not majority leader then I would easily hold my nose and vote for him. His stewardship of the senate Dem's has been pathetic despite his bluster in this last remaining year before his ticket comes due.

Having said that I think its entirely likely that the only thing that can save harry at this point is the Tea party. If they succeed in getting a raving bagger through the primaries or split the puke vote with a tea party candidate He may just survive. Baring that or election fraud on his part he is destined to be retired this time around.
