Baffled by Health Plan? So Are Some Lawmakers

WASHINGTON — It is often said that the new health care law will affect almost every American in some way. And, perhaps fittingly if unintentionally, no one may be more affected than members of Congress themselves.

In a new report, the Congressional Research Service says the law may have significant unintended consequences for the “personal health insurance coverage” of senators, representatives and their staff members.

For example, it says, the law may “remove members of Congress and Congressional staff” from their current coverage, in the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program, before any alternatives are available.

The confusion raises the inevitable question: If they did not know exactly what they were doing to themselves, did lawmakers who wrote and passed the bill fully grasp the details of how it would influence the lives of other Americans?

See Congress? This is what happens when you don't read the bills that you're so eager to sign into law. Except that usually it's the regular people who get the short end of the stick.

I'm fine. Tomorrow I'm going to FL to a swanky wedding at a resort. One of my best friend's only child (a daughter) is getting married and they are going all out for this wedding. A few days by the pool with a cold drink will suit me just fine. Here's hoping the weather cooperates.

:D

14. Yeah, isn't that a shocker.......
That must be why we usually end up with crappy legislation. The Congress critters simply don't take the time to read the bills in their entirety. Most of them rely on staffers to give them a synopsis.
