Yippeee!
You mean U.S troops won't occupy Afghanistan forever?
That's wonderful news!
Oh .... and it will take a year of more to build up U.S. troops in Afghanistan. So any talk about beginning the withdrawl of U.S military forces from Afghanistan in six months or perhaps a year is just a wee bit off.

A US official said Obama would offer a time frame for reducing forces, though without setting dates, as he has in Iraq. The official said: "There will be an expectation of a time in the future when we will begin to thin out forces." Another official said that, in order not to alarm the Afghan and Pakistani governments, "no-one is using the 'exit strategy' phrase".
It could take 12 to 18 months to deploy fully the two brigades. The number of troops in a brigade varies from day to day, meaning that the extra deployment could be anything between 30,000 and 35,000. There are about 68,000 US troops in Afghanistan at present.
