Liberals seem to spend most of their time arguing among themselves about the finer points of politics, while conservatives spend most of their time hammering home simple messages to the public at large. I think liberals need to get some simple messages across to the public. The public has no idea of what liberalism is and what it has done, yet a very compelling case can be made that liberalism has contributed a lot more to the U.S. than conservativism.
I have no idea how it can be done, but I think these are some of the messages, and every one of them can be backed with with facts: - Obama turned the economy around faster than Reagan did. - Without exception, all of the world's great nations have national health care. - Liberalism is what has made America great. - Liberal policies and laws benefit us every single daily. - Taxes pay for services that help us live longer. - The wealthy pay high taxes and then get richer by betting on where that money goes. - Liberalism is at least as American as conservativism. - Liberalism is about building a better tomorrow, conservativism about clinging to yesterday.
Any others?
