"What is he WAITING for?"
Edited on Mon May-24-10 07:52 PM by jenmito
I can understand RWers asking this question, but Keith Olbermann? Ed Schultz? James Carville? Donna Brazile? Why do they refuse to listen to the press briefings or conference calls?

Every single time the questions are asked and answered, it's as if it goes in one ear and out the other of those people! Do they REALLY believe that just because Obama didn't put on his Aquaman suit and shoot down to the broken pipes and tie them together that he's not doing anything??? :eyes:

Someone is responsible for something, doesn't mean they get to be in charge.

The fact that Obama let BP stay in charge of this event, and let the Coast Guard protect BP's need for no public air time on our news, stinks to high heaven.

BP needs to be responsible only for the COSTS of the cleanup. Obama should be using his pen to sign an Executive Order to take any equipment that BP has and divert it to the task at hand.

With BP standing down.

British Petroleum is in charge.

Let me repeat that, BP is in charge.

And BP has the local police hampering citizens arriving at the coast to work. BP is hampering people already at the coast trying to work.

And BP is hampering the media/.

Check out this video and the one that is posted in one of the comments blelow it:

So who died and made Tony Hayward the king? Yes, that's the BP CEO yelling "get 'em out of there, get 'em out of there" to the media who is filming him as he "works" on the oil slick cleanup. The last time I checked, we don't live in the United States of BP. Again, would someone in the White House like to step up and take control of this situation? This pompous ass thinks he owns the place and quite frankly, he does at the moment.

http://www.americablog.com/2010/05/bp-ceo-walks-on-oil-...
action is my duty, reward is not my concern

Why is the WH allowing BP's rather pathetically inaccurate attempt at the oil barrel numbers to stand as the real count?

Scientists are saying that some 4 Million gals a day have been escaping, and yet the WH allows BP to say that the amount is 5,000 barrels (47 gals to a barrel - so you have a factoring difference of twenty in the count of amount of crude hitting the water.

And of course it is to BP's benefit to have the smaller count - as they will be liable, should the Obama Administration pursue it, to pay on the order of $ 1,000 a unit (forget what the unit is, but twenty times less in fines will be significant.)

Edited on Tue May-25-10 08:24 AM by AllentownJake
Human nature is to say we can do something, in this situation you are fucked for 90 days.

My Dad got Pancreatic Cancer and died a few years ago. There were a few relatives that were absolutely nuts because surely something could be done. Nope, my Dad was going to die. There was no cure for that cancer in those late stages. Only thing that could be done was to make him comfortable. Even if they caught it earlier, that cancer would eventually kill him. He might have gotten an extra year, probably a miserable one with radiation and chemo hoping for a .5% chance of survival and a miracle.

However, a few relatives were angry at everyone from my mother (who encouraged my dad to embrace hospice) to the doctors because they didn't like the reality.

45. We live in an instant society and media. No spill has ever been attempted to be plugged
at this depth. And the enormity of the spill simply means some things will not work out perfectly. Putting BP under federal control simply means they will try the same things as before to stop the spill but the federal govt. will be in charge. Same with the cleanup, aside from maybe the questions on the dispersant used, I fail to see the big difference. Also, BP can turn around and say the govt. is now responsible monetarily for cleaning up the spill.

Hyperbole about Katrina and 9/11 fails to mention no human lives were are at stake accept human livelihoods. The only good to come out of it is that Rwers who make their living off the coast may rethink drilling as being good.

53. No, we shouldn't. I would say we should not be drilling in depths of 5000 feet below
the ocean either. There are wells much deeper then that however.

63. I am not the WH, ask them. I am against deep sea drilling.
I would imagine it has something to do with our lack of reknewables and our extreme dependence on oil. It is bigger then any one President.

66. In the face of what is happening, it is not only insane....
But it contributes to the general appearance of a WH that has n coherent policy or leadership on the issue in general.
