"Reid plans noon session on Sunday"
No rest for the stall-tacticians....

Reid plans noon session on Sunday
By Eric Zimmermann - 12/03/09 12:15 PM ET
Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) said Thursday that the Senate will come to session at noon on Sunday to keep working on healthcare reform.

In response to a question by Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), who wanted to know if members would have a chance to go to church Sunday morning, Reid said the upper chamber would be in session but not until the afternoon.

"I think it's very likely that we wouldn't come in until noon or somewhere around noon on Sunday," Reid said on the Senate floor.

Democrats have threatened to work through most weekends in December to push through healthcare legislation, hoping to pass something by the end of the year.

Republicans have sought to stretch out the debate.

2. They should be happy Harry conceded to the noon hour.
When I had to work Sundays there were no options! You worked the hours scheduled! If it was 7AM or any other time. I happen to be Catholic and we could go to Saturday nigh mass instead of Sunday, but that was up to the employees to make whatever arrangements they had to make. If Harry has the steel ones to do it, he should demand the session last at least until 8PM. Give us a good 8 hours of work guys! That's your damn job!

4. hmmm....
.... I dont know that that's legal... that they can make you work and expect you to make arrangements to practice your religion at a time that's convenient for them.

I realize it's too late for you now, but I wish I'd known you then. I'd have let you talk to my father .... he's a civil rights attorney .... and a minister. Fortunately my employer is flexible with my need to attend the worship service.

5. What if you were a nurse, Dr., fireman, ER tech...
I'm all kind of sorry but I disagree with you about religion taking priority over everything.

I wasn't in any of those jobs, but when a position has to be filled over specific times, the only other option I see would be to exclude anyone who has religious concerns. That I think WOULD be illegal.

6. Well, that's when one has to weigh...
.... one's religion over one's job.

I've been offered a position in management but wont take it because they would want me to work during church (which is not the same as requiring me to do so, if that makes any sense.)

Anyway, I've gotten us off track .... GO GET 'EM HARRY!!!
