AP sources: Bill Clinton to lead wedding of NY rep

NEW YORK -- Call him the officiator-in-chief: Former President Bill Clinton will preside at the wedding of New York Rep. Anthony Weiner to a longtime aide of Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.

That's according to people familiar with the ceremony. They spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss it. Aides to Weiner and the former president declined to comment.

The 45-year-old congressman and his 34-year-old fiancee, Huma Abedin, are to be married Saturday at the Oheka Castle in Huntington on Long Island.

They have been dating for about two years and announced their engagement last summer. Weiner is Jewish. Abedin grew up in Saudi Arabia and is Muslim.

The Clintons are in the midst of a busy wedding season. Their daughter, Chelsea, plans to tie the knot with investment banker Marc Mezvinsky in Rhinebeck, N.Y., this month.

I can see couples getting married by a judge or a President in office but an EX President?

Sea captains can perform marriages, perhaps ex-president can, as well.

6. I did some work with the bride a few...

years ago and she is a very cool, very hard worker. HRC is a handful and she keeps it all running very smoothly. During the '08 primaries, you could always see Huma close to HRC with like 4 bags and 6 notebooks, doing her gig. I suppose since HRC got the S of S position it's a little easier for Huma but she is great at what she does!!!! Rep Weiner has been going with her for several years but marrying her is SO deep considering... He talks the talk and definitely walks the walk and hooking up with her only proves he is one BAAAD dude, kicking ass and taking names whether it's on HCR or his choice of spouses... Good Luck to them!!!!!

The joke in DC was that Hillary couldn't make it past her doorstep without Huma. She's bright, capable and very discreet.

I wish her and Tony Weiner a very happy marriage.

Bryan Rafanelli oversaw the design and plan of the wedding celebration. The ceremony was officiated by President William Jefferson Clinton.
