New Quinnipiac Poll: Dems likely to win back Governorship of CT after 24-years of GOP rule

Among likely Democratic primary voters, businessman Lamont leads former Stamford Mayor Malloy 46 - 37 percent, with 16 percent undecided.


Democrats lead in any possible general election matchups among registered voters:
Lamont over Foley 45 - 33 percent;
Lamont over Fedele 49 - 27 percent;
Lamont over Griebel 49 - 25 percent;
Malloy over Foley 44 - 33 percent;
Malloy over Fedele 49 - 26 percent;
Malloy over Griebel 51 - 25 percent.

"The Democrats haven't won a race for Governor in Connecticut in 24 years. Could this be their year? Both Ned Lamont and Dan Malloy have double digit leads over all the Republicans, including frontrunner Tom Foley. The Democratic candidates benefit from the state's Democratic registration advantage and they are better known than the Republican contenders," said Quinnipiac University Poll Director Douglas Schwartz, PhD.

I think Ned too is the best candidate for governor. He's run an aggressive and positive campaign so far. I just hope we can get Mary Glassman as his Lt. Gov running mate.

5. I am so excited about this, as a lifelong Connecticut resident. Lamont or Malloy would both

make very good governors, though I am leaning toward Lamont simply because of his taking on of Lieberman back in 2006 showed how gutsy he is.
All the buzz I hear lately in CT is about the Dems, I barely see adds for the Repubs.
Jodi Rell has not be a terrible governor and has been reasonable for a Republican. But I have wanted a real Dem in there for a long, long time. Now, if Blumnethal can win against McMahon (which I think he will), I would say I am very happy to live in CT. If only Lieberman could retire in 2012 and we could get someone like my rep Chris Murphy to run for that seat....

Foley and Griebel are whining their collective asses off about Fedele taking public funds.

I don't see any of the repukes in this race as even close to the popularity of either of the dems.

9. If Lamont wins--I doubt Lieberman would endorse him.

I hope Dems run a strong candidate against Joe in '12. In a presidential year he might not win as an indie, especially since now most people know he has been more a republican than anything.

11. And actually Dems have a chance to win governorships in CA, FL, TX as well

If we took those three big states that would (I think) overshadow losing say PA and MI. Also Dems are showing strength in some republican held senate seats like Ohio, MO, NC. And thanks to the tea partiers Reid is gaining strength in NV and I think that PA will stay democratic.
