1. Then tell Congress and the Senate to do that. |
|
The President can not do that.

2. That would be SOCIALISMMMMM! |
|
For that reason alone Obama will not ask for it, or work to see it's passage even if Congress took it up, which they won't (for the same reason.)

3. BP is going to have to do that |
|
And Obama will continue to force them to do the right thing, just like he forced them to keep looking for a way to stop the oil which is why it is capped today.
And also the reason there are two relief wells being drilled instead of one.

9. That is what the Stimulus Plan was supposed to be |
|
But then they let a third of it go to tax cuts, a third to programs to help the unemployed. There are many projects currently being worked on that are re-building our infrastructure. The Obama PR guys blew their chance to make sure that those projects were labeled properly. Instead, many Republicans got in front of the cameras with big fat checks and took all the credit and will be able to use those photos to try to get re-elected this fall.

5. It would be a nice gesture, but a temporary one. There's only so much |
|
humans on foot can do there. A much better idea would be rebuilding our cumbling infrastructure. Yes, that would be temporary too, but much longer term than the cleanup jobs.

A Massive power grid rebuilding project. A Massive highways and bridges rebuilding project (far bigger than we have now) A massive stream and river restoration project removing failing useless dams.
Just to name a few. It would nearly instantly and significantly help the entire economy.
To afford it we have to stop fighting the boogeymen in the sand and mountains of the middle east though.

10. Let's chance Obama Admin to Congress. Then I'll say, they'll just laugh in your face. |
|
These are same people who won't expand unemployment benefits.

11. A few weeks ago I would have agreed. Then, I learned that just about everyone is dead who worked on |
|
the Exxon Valdez oil spill cleanup.
Right about then I also decided not to take that vacation I was planning to head down there and help.
