1. Anything short of retaking the House and the Senate with veto proof majorities...
is an epic fail by Repugnicans. Let the "Refudiate" that.

2. Democrats ought to have been talking about increasing their majorities
not holding on for dear life....

3. Even they view it like that
They set the bar so high, they left no room for any in between. The civil war will be great to watch.

4. I disagree
I think that Barack Obama would have a really good time positioning himself against the Party of NO once they get a stake in the leadership of this country. Bill Clinton did a pretty good job of it in 1995-96.

Should the Democratic Party hold on to bare majorities in both houses of Congress, they'll get the complete blame for a do-nothing Congress for the next two years. I cannot see too many Democrats who win by 51-52% pluralities (when they used to win with 60-70%) being too bold on any agenda for the next session of Congress.

5. Darrell Issa w/ subpoena power isn't desirable under any circumstance.

6. The Repukes would make themselves look like fools
They probably don't remember the lesson about how impeaching Bill Clinton did nothing for them. The American people really don't want a bunch of Congressional investigations interfering with the televising of "Dancing with the Stars".

9. Yes, it did
but only because he gave them so much to work with. When it was all just Whitewater, it was getting nowhere. If Bill Clinton hadn't produced that stain on the blue dress, then it all would have gone away.

11. it would be a friggen disaster of epic proportions ...
These clowns have been complete and total jaggoffs in the minority, and also have been EXTREMELY disruptive, again in the minority ...

As the other poster noted, they would reak MUCH havoc with the majority in the house, MUCH ... They would completely stop, as in not the first friggen thing, ANY initiative advanced by BO, and they would RELENTLESSLY dog him with investigations and subpeonas ...

The economy is either going to bump or not ... Rs will pin the negative on BO and the Ds regards (see, NOW) ... If it bumps up and there are no domestic terrorist attacks, BO will once again have a pretty cape for Ds to ride on in 2012 ...

But, that is secondary to the fact that an R majority in the house would be a disaster of EPIC proportions ... These people have become completely unhinged, have no bearing of reality whatsover, and WILL go after BO with everything they have ...

13. Well, it seems there are two possibilities
The one that you seem to favor, which is a greatly reduced Democratic majority that can do even less than the Congress we've just suffered through, with new Repukes replacing a few Blue Dogs, and the remaining BD's so damned scared that they wet themselves every time Rush Limpballs mentions them by name. We'd nominally still have full control of the government, so would get all the blame for anything that happens between 2011 and Election Day, 2012. It might even be enough to prevent the President from getting re-elected, no matter what nutball is on the Rethug ticket (even Caribou Barbie).

The other possibility is that the Repukes nominally take over numerically, the tea partiers in the new Congress being their spokespersons, and making them look like total fools. The President would not be expected to pass any legislation in the next two years, and would be relieved of responsibility for doing so. We'd have a stalemate, with the Repigs refusing any reasonable request from the President, and him being able to veto any stupidity that they got through Congress. In the meantime, the stimulus finally works, Americans get back to work, and they know who to credit for it. We also get to nominate progressive Democratic candidates to run in the seats that the Blue Dogs lost back in 2010, and with President Obama at the top of the ticket, we bring marginal voters back to the polls to further what we've only begun in the last couple of years, this time unfettered by the idiots that caused us to water down HCR and other initiatives that progressives support.

Sometimes you have to take one step back in order to take two forward.

8. Are you serious? If the R's get close and adding the blue dogs, what
progressive legislation do you think will get through?

14. a
they might not be able to do much with slimmer majorities and lower pluralities in 2010...but remember 2012 is a presidential yr and all the hype associated with that. obama will be well positioned if the economy picks up and then he can point to all the things he brought to fruition that are beign overlooked now.

also don't discount the end of the iraqi war and hopefully afghan too will improve his stock....

lastly, when the country sees these bumbling idea-less clowns on the trail with their bigoted following of tea buggers, the cat will have been out of the bag on that crew....

palin is hated by 60 percent of america, even more women.

who do you fear? jindal, pawlenty, fred thompson, eric douche canto. none of these guys have gravitas...
