My Sister told me the real reason the politicians are against health care reform

She works as a Supervisor for Blue Cross out of PA. and there being told the reason the Senators and Congress people who don't want health care reform is because once it passes they will lose the Cadillac packages they currently have as Senators and Congressmen.The packages will not be offered once health care reform passes.

I read in LBN that "Brown has refused to participate in the government's array of health insurance plans for 17 years, saying they are more generous than the coverage choices that many other Americans get. Why should Congress get such sweet coverage? he asks."

8. That does not surprise

me one bit. Everything that congress has access to has been provided by the taxpayers that is except for the corporate perks.Why should they want us to have good quality healthcare when they already have it. And by the way it is in the form of a public option or healthcare exchange what ever you want to call it they got it.The truth is anyone with any common sense should be so outraged at the fact that they can take our money and tell us how much of it we can use.They want smaller government which means no social programs to help people who don't reside on capitol hill. This fight over healthcare should not be happening. Having access to good quality healthcare should be a basic right.And speaking of basic right seems like every pro life troll would be screaming healthcare reform from the top of their lungs. Oh thats right they only care about having control over a womb that does not belong to their ass.

10. I wouldn't doubt it. This could be used as an issue to force Congress members to vote for HCR.

And there is nothing to prevent more well off from buying additional insurance. Just make sure that companies are limited in what they can provide in addition to the standard package.

... and have been trying to figure out a way to ask them the same question.

12. Nah, because they health plans they get are the same ones Federal Employees get

One of them, Blue Cross/Blue Shield PPO, is the largest group health plan in the nation --it is good, but it is NOT Cadillac. Half of all Federal Employees are in this plan. It costs $80/every two weeks for one person and does not include dental or vision.

Most congresspeople have this plan by the way.

13. Well, there's vision, but not the kind that involves exams for glasses

or coverage for contacts, etc. (That's with the BC/BS Standard version, not Basic) It covers visits to an eye doctor for a specific problem or disease.

And of course it costs more if you are covering a family...closer to $180/month

I have been poring over the various HC packages for almost 2 weeks now and I'm exhausted! 'Tis the season for open enrollment....they are really pushing the "Consumer Driven Health Plan" thing HARD....
