BUDGET 2010 SIMPLIFIED
A. Defense & Security—($715 Billion)

B. Social Security ---($708 Billion)
retirement benefits average $1117 per person to 36 Million
Survivors Benefits for 6.4 Million
Disability benefits for 9.7 million

C. Medicare-Medicaid-Chip—($753 Billion)
$468B to Medicare for 40 Million
$285 for Medicaid and Chip for 64 Million

D. Safety Net Programs—($482 Billion)
Eitc—Unemployment Insurance-Food Stamps-school meals-
low income housing-low income fuel-child care assistance aid abused and neglected children

E. Interest on National Debt—($209 Billion)

Defense + Security—Social Security—Safety Net---Medicare/Medicaid--Interest

These 5 total 81% of Grand Total

Others are:
Benefits for Federal retirees And Veterans
Education
Scientific and Medical Research
Transportation
Non-Security International
Operation of Government

2. The 2010 budget? They're debating the 2011 budget now, which
goes into effect in later this year. The 2010 budget already passed.

3. Based on your numbers unsupported by a link I would still say
our offensive budget is the place to start.

Yes, offensive budget. Our military spending has been used in an offensive way for 9 years now, not defensive.

There is also a very large unknown number that is not reported here. Black ops. Nobody knows how large that number is and I'm sure many billions could be saved there without damaging the "defense" of the country.

Get some links and I'll consider a rec.

5. Defense Budget, duh.
we could cut it in half and still outgun the entire world put together. I think we've kinda over-killed on that one. just maybe, it could be better spent somewhere else.
