Please re-read what has happened in history,
so that you can be just as confused as the American people.
I think that is the only way that we can hold on to Congress this year,
and that you can win re-election in 2012.....is to act upon short term gains
and act like there is no tomorrow!
1. Be very very partisan, and you will be rewarded because the media will demonize your opponents automatically, without you even having to ask. They will do this day in, day out while heralding you as the "War President", and advertising that Job Creation is not the job of the President. Worked for George Bush in his first term, so I don't see why it shouldn't work for you.
2. Do not remove any more troops from Iraq, and continue on with Afghanistan but do not refocus our strategy in our efforts they, but instead ignore that there's even a war there, cause the American people actually like war a lot more, short term, and you've only been in office 20 months, so this should also work for you....although you may have to change that tact by 2015.
3. Keep the tax cuts for the Rich. Bush and the media told the American people over and over again that Tax cuts creates jobs, and two years after the largest tax cut for the rich in history done in 2001, the American people approved of George Bush enough to elect him to another term, although he lost jobs. Oh yeah...and the American people also believe that Deficit didn't matter, and so does the media according to historical ocurrences from just a few years ago. Also make sure to reduce capital gains....cause that is a winner with highly paid news anchors who will not ask you tough questions if you do this.
4. Show how strong of a leader you are by just saying stuff that don't make a bit of sense to anyone; say it with a cowboy accent; and pound your fist on the table and squint your eyes after announcing that people are either with us, or they are aginst us. Let the media interpret what you mean, as they will put you in the best possible light, because they want to help you run this country.
5. The way to show Americans that "you care about people" is to do everything in your power to keep them down by not raising wages; not caring about health insurance; instituting an education program that is unfunded; and by oh.....please, please, please flying on a fighter plane onto the deck of an aircraft carrier in preparation for the announcement of the end of the fighting in Iraq. Don't forget the big banner! Americans love that kind of stuff, and will probably excite them enough to go to the polls!
Oh...and you're only supposed to take money from the oil industry to put into your re-election coffers!
So to recap, what could help congress stay in the majorities in 2010 and you get re-elected in 2012:
Do not reduce combat troups in Iraq,
do not act like you care about anything going on in afghanistan,
do not regulate industries,
do not allow tax cuts to expire,
do not talk legibly,
do not have a plan for the future,
do not care about deficits,
do not care about jobs growth,
do not care about the environment.
In fact, if you simply do not care, you will come out a winner
with the American people. :patriot:
EVALUATIONS OF GEORGE W. BUSH in may of 2003 - CBS PollThe president's approval ratings - apart from those on the economy -
remain high, and are much the same as they were two weeks ago.
Now, 67 percent approve of the overall job he is doing as president. Bush's handling of the economy remains his weak point, with 43 percent approving of the job he is doing steering the economy, and 48 percent disapproving. Iraq is his strong point; 74 percent now approve of the job he did there. However, evaluations of Bush's handling of foreign policy issues other than Iraq are lower, with 54 percent approval.

The percentage of Americans who think Bush has strong qualities of leadership - which rose to a high of 83 percent in late September 2001 - is at 70 percent in this poll. Still, that is a larger percentage than said Bush was a strong leader before 9/11.

Two-thirds think Bush cares about the needs and problems of people like themselves, although only a third think he cares a lot. Those most likely to think the president is empathetic to their needs include Republicans and those with the highest incomes. Those least likely to think he cares about them are Democrats and African Americans. About half see Bush as a conservative.
Despite some public criticism (especially by Democrats), 59 percent of the public thinks it was appropriate for the president to fly a fighter plane onto the deck of an aircraft carrier in preparation for the announcement of the end of the fighting in Iraq. 35 percent think it was inappropriate for Bush to do so.
EVALUATING THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION
Nearly nine in ten Americans think the Bush Administration has made progress in developing a plan to protect the country from terrorism. But evaluations of the administration's progress on domestic issues are lower, and show little change since earlier this year.
Half think the administration has made some progress improving the economy, and 44 percent think it has taken steps to improve education. But fewer see progress being made in other domestic policy areas, such as Social Security and prescription drugs. And these are the areas where the Democrats are perceived as stronger.
