When Will GOP Hit the Shoals of Reality?

CNN's idea of incisive reporting is to count how many times a week Obama mentions his predecessor's name in public. Last week's count? Two.

The Republicans have so far refrained from offering any kind of positive agenda because they see no upside. As they see it, offering actual policies only provides a target for both Democrats and their own rabid base to attack. The Republican leaders keep promising to unveil something (the latest promise is for late September) but so far, they haven't done anything beyond letting Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) act ridiculous.

The Republicans can't actually provide an agenda that bears arithmetic scrutiny because they refuse to raise taxes on the wealthy and that means they'd have to abandon all talk of fiscal responsibility and balanced budgets or campaign on decimating people's retirement security. They are a dishonest party, but they think they have all the momentum. Hopefully, that momentum is going to stall on the shoals of reality before November. The American people deserve an honest debate. But they won't get one unless they see through the smoke and demand honest answers from the Republicans.

1. Never--reality interferes with their goals of complete wealth and power

that's why they work so hard at creating their own and trying to force it upon everyone else.

2. Republicans want to give everything away to the top 1%.
Which is why the GOP wants both tax cuts and increased spending on oil production and un-needed wars.

3. I think several things have them on the ropes right now...
they talk about tax cuts, but in the next sentence, they talk about the deficit. The government makes money in a few way, the most obvious is taxation of the citizenry, they get a little from leases and licenses. Not many other options.

By following bush's lead and slashing taxes for the wealthy, the downward slide moved quite a bit. There is plenty of proof that cutting taxes for those that are already incredibly wealthy, will not salvage the economy. In fact, the money saved is invested in the various markets, and is used to gain even more money.

The wars; besides the terrible price we pay in human life, it costs nearly a billion dollars a day to stay this lousy course. If the GOP was serious about bringing the budget on line, an excellent place to start would be to get out of the Middle East.

Taking a look at the GOP "leadership", Boehner, McConnell and Steele have simply got to be the worst trio that ever stumbled into power. They exude no confidence at all, they are like the 3 Stooges w/o the charisma.

The GOP must know it cannot possibly expect to win w/the creepy "strategy" they working on. I know lifelong R's that are disgusted w/the GOP, they refuse to vote in the National level, but go to vote on local issues. One R told me, he was embarrassed by his party and would not longer support them as he did in the past. He re-registered Independent.

I don't mind watching the GOP melt away, and the sooner, the better.

4. "they are like the 3 Stooges w/o the charisma."
 That is a perfect description; I can't take any of them, and am encouraged to hear about the rethugs you know who are so disgusted. I hope that applies to a lot of people; it should.

5. Don't forget Defacto leader sister Sarah
She is doing more damage to candidates then the candidates themselves.

6. I think they all rolled out of the veggie bin at the local grocer's...
Reagan began the GOP, "Morons on Parade" that we are witnessing these days.

If there is an R w/a message, he/she is tied up and stashed in Boehner's Chamber of Horrors...:D

8. When they do not do as well as they think they will in November, I think they will get worse-
I think the 'Baggers will push the "real" Gopers so far right they will be in uncharted territory, and the "moderate" repuiblicans will leave in large numbers...some of them may even become (gasp) Democrats-or at least vote for Democrats-simply because anyone running as a republican will be by definition insane.
I believe by 2012 the GOP will be a fucking cartoon and will have little chance of coming back for many years to come, maybe never.
They are getting closer every day.

Please vote Democratic in November and help the GOP kill itself.

9. The real question is, when will the American public face reality?
Such as the state of health care here vs. in other industrialized countries. Or, more generally, the standard of living here vs. in other industrialized countries.

When will Americans stop reacting to platitudes and jingoism?
